Karen was born in Hazleton, PA and spent her childhood in Zion Grove, PA. She moved to Weston, PA when she married the love of her life. She was a 1969 graduate of West Hazleton High School and continued her studies at Empire Beauty School, after which she opened her own beauty salon. While running a beauty salon and raising her children, she also worked at Jebbon Garment Sewing Factory in Weston. Karen and her husband Jim moved to Monroe, NC to be closer to their grandchildren. She and Jim moved to Hilton Head, SC where they enjoyed the seafood, lighthouse tours, and exploring the island. They then ventured to New Port Richey, FL where they enjoyed the Tarpon Springs sponge docks, the beaches, and visiting the Theme Parks. Karen's favorite place to visit was Disney during the Christmas season to see the Osborne Lights. Karen and Jim caught the cruising bug and went whenever they could. They visited many places including Cuba, Mexico, the Grand Caymans, St. Lucia, and St. Thomas. Since their lives were fullest being surrounded by their grandchildren, they moved back to Monroe, NC. The grandchildren adored their grandmother to no end.
