Katherine Suzan (Estes) Hilton

November 27, 1950May 30, 2021

HILTON, Katherine Suzan (Estes), age 70, of Waxhaw, NC sadly passed away Sunday, May 30, 2021 of a broken heart. She never fully recovered after the death of her mother Edith in August 2020. The pair were inseparable, now even in death. She was born on November 27, 1950 in Shawnee, OK to father, Ezra LeRoy Estes and Edith Helms Estes. She was a longtime resident of Waxhaw. She graduated from Dillon High School in Dillon, SC in 1969. She went by Kathy most of her life and her family lovingly called her Aunt Kathy. She had a special gift for numbers and dates that approached genius level. She worked many years caring for the infants at the Waxhaw United Methodist Church, and it was her greatest joy. Her photo albums contain pictures of hundreds of children that passed through her hands as infants to become adults. She loved the Lord and attended the Oakhurst Baptist Church in Charlotte. Kathy never had children but treated her niece Contessa and nephew John as her own. She is survived by her brother Richard. She was married once to Calvin Hilton and has two loving step-daughters, Shannon and Katie. She would always greet you with a smile and a giant hug. The funeral services will be held graveside service at Waxhaw City Cemetery, 111 Arbor Drive, Waxhaw, NC, at 10 AM on Saturday, June 26th with Minister DeWayne Evans. Flowers can be sent to McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. Condolences and well wishes may be posted on Kathy’s memorialized Facebook page at www.facebook.com/katherine.e.hilton. McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe is honored to serve the Hilton family.

Kathy was a sweet friend and she took care of my sons when they were small. It was always a pleasure to talk to her, hug her, and laugh with her. What a bubbly personality and caring attitude she always had!
