

She was born on June 16, 1927, in Monroe, North Carolina to the late Henry and Jenny Simpson Curlee. Lois graduated from New Salem school and later went on to work for General Motors in the Chevrolet Motor Division where she retired after 34 years. Lois also had many hobbies and interests in her life. She loved working in her garden and growing beautiful flowers and was an avid reader of all types of books. She was also a member of Watson Primitive Baptist Church.
Along with her parents, Lois is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Rinehardt; and son, Travis Nicholas (Nick) Philemon. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Johnson (husband, Larry); and granddaughter, Sarah Zaldivar (husband, Victor).
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, located at 204 South Main Street, Monroe, North Carolina. A funeral service to celebrate Lois’s life will be held following the visitation at 2:15 pm in the McEwen Colonial Chapel with Elder Tom Robinson officiating. Burial will then follow the service at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte, North Carolina.
