Margaret Alice Cuthbertson Myers, retired Union County Second Grade Schoolteacher and daughter of the late Zeb Cuthbertson and Helen Williams Cuthbertson, died on Monday, February 24, 2014 in Carolinas Medical Center - Union. She was born on June 30, 1920 in Union County. She attended the Rock Rest Academy in the first grade and transferred to Wingate Elementary when Wingate and Rock Rest merged in 1927. She graduated from Wingate High School in 1937 and from Wingate Junior College in 1939. She completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree at Appalachian State College in 1941. Upon finishing college she immediately began her long and productive career of 39 years in Elementary Education. She initially taught at Fairview Elementary School and subsequently at Benton Heights and East Elementary Schools in Monroe. She married Eugene Crowell Myers, her husband of 58 years, on April 17, 1943. Eugene, who preceded her in death in 2001, was a veteran of World War II, operated a successful construction and automotive business, and served in Union County Law enforcement.
Margaret was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Daughters of the American Colonists, the Union County Retired Teachers association, and Monroe First Baptist Church. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was dearly loved by a host of relatives, friends, and former students who will deeply miss her kind and caring presence in their lives.
She is survived by her son, Zeb Eugene Myers, of the home. She is also survived by many relatives and by hundreds of former students.

Arrangements will be private and handled by McEwen funeral home of Monroe.
