Margaret Ann West, age 85, of York, SC gained her wings on January 28, 2019.

She was born in Union County on August 25, 1933, daughter of the late Fred and Lula James. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Richard West; her son, Mitchell Blackmon; her sisters, Christine Bryant, Joyce Garner and brother, Boyce James.

She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Franklin, Jeannie Mills and Patsy Hamrick; her son, Robert Helms and wife, May Barawed; thirteen grandchildren, thirty four great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren and her brother, Robert "RC" James.

The family will receive friends from 4:00pm until 6:00pm Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Lesslie Church of God, 2357 S. Anderson Rd., Catawba, SC 29704. A service to celebrate Margaret's life will be held 1:00pm Friday, February 1, 2019 at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, 204 S. Main St., Monroe, NC 28112. McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe is honored to serve the family of Mrs. West.
