Mary "Mamie" Groome, age 61, of Waxhaw, passed away on March 16, 2017 with her loving husband by her side. Mamie was born in Ft. Benning, Georgia, the daughter of Karl and Hilda Allen. Mamie was a member of the Waxhaw Arts Council and worked in the public school system for 25 years. She was a loving mother, wife and a great woman of faith.
She was preceded in death by her mother. Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Brian Groome; her son, Thomas Groome and wife Rondalyn; her daughter, Rachel Gerstner and husband Andy; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Vickie Allen and Karla Allen and her father, Karl Allen.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from 5:00pm until 6:00pm at Waxhaw United Methodist Church. A service to celebrate her life will follow at 6:00pm.
