Mary Elizabeth "Lib" Helms Rape, age 79, of Monroe, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 30, 2016. She was born in Union County on December 7, 1936, daughter of the late John Robert Helms Jr. and Essie Hargette Helms. She worked in the textile industry at Springs Industries for 43 years.
Lib was preceded in death by her father, Mark K. Richardson and her husband of 38 years, Albert Rape.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce D. Sherrin and husband David. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 2:00pm Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. A graveside service will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110. McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe is serving the family of Mrs. Rape.
