Preston Sylvester Baucom Jr.

Mr. Preston S. Baucom Jr., 92, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Jesse Helms Nursing Center. Preston was born May 1, 1924 in Union County son of the late Preston S. and Inez Bass Baucom Sr., also preceded in death by his beloved wife Grace Fowler Baucom who died in 2010.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 2, 2017 from 12:30 P.M. until 1:45 P.M. at the McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. Services to celebrate his life will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the McEwen Colonial Chapel with Rev. Bill Englebreath and Bob Short officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park.

Survivors include two daughters: Barbara Boyce (John) and Pam Edwards (Steve) both of Monroe, grandchildren: Kevin Boyce (Amy), Ashley Hammond (Chris), Brian Edwards (Krystal), Travis Edwards (Lauren), Kimberly Edwards, great grandchildren: John Hunter Hammond, Gavin Hammond, Cody Boyce, Skylar Boyce, Kaleb Sanders, Grayson Edwards, Brenna Edwards, Milo Edwards and Wesley Edwards.

Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church Rest Home, 4123 Hillcrest Church Road, Monroe NC, 28110. The family of Mr. Baucom would like to thank the staff of Hillcrest Rest Home and the staff of Jesse Helms Nursing Home for the special care given Preston during his stay with each facility.
