Bob was born June 23, 1948 to James Lester and Myrtle (Carter) Davis in Monroe, North Carolina. He was a 1966 graduate of Sun Valley High School in Monroe, attended Wingate Junior College and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Prior to a 1975 motorcycle accident, Bob was an excellent athlete. Bob loved to visit and talk with people — engaging in many eccentric conversations over the years. His friends and family remember how incredibly smart he was, talking intelligently on a vast array of subjects, from politics and history to the intricacies of science.
Bob cared for his many nieces and nephews, with nephews Tim Jr., Aaron and Clint always willing to help and his niece Mary Kate never failing to remind him that she wasn’t a baby — she was a “little person.”
Bob was proceeded in death by his parents and nephew Clinton Davis.
Bob is survived by his brothers James Lester Davis III (Irene), Milas Wayne Davis (Brenda), Timothy Clark Davis Sr. (Janice) and Dallas Alonzo (Julie) Davis; sisters Jane Davis Malcomb (John) and Marilyn Davis Wallace (Bob); and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will take place at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 20, 2021, at Union United Methodist Church in Waxhaw, with a visitation 30 minutes prior to the service.
Arrangements are being completed by McEwen Funeral Home in Monroe.
