

He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on September 21, 1943, to the late David Fred Yost, Jr. and Frances Virginia Helms Yost.
Robert graduated in 1961 from Mineral Springs High School in Mineral Springs, North Carolina where he remained close friends with many of his fellow classmates. He would later serve in the Army during the Vietnam War as a Green Beret with the 82nd Airborne Division where he received a Purple Heart. After his honorable service in the military, Robert went on to work for Grinnell Automatic Sprinkler and Fire Safety where he would retire after several years of dedicated service. He was also a member of the National Automatic Sprinkler Industry. Robert had many interests and enjoyments in his life including repairing his lawnmowers, tractors and automobiles. He enjoyed working in his yard and loved keeping it neat and tidy. He was also an avid NASCAR fan and tried to never miss a race.
Along with his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his brother, David Edward Yost. He is survived by his sisters, Carolyn Turner (Cecil) of Matthews, North Carolina and Vickie Beck of Waxhaw, North Carolina.
A service for Robert including military honors will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at 2:00 pm at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, located at 204 South Main Street, Monroe, North Carolina.
