Ruby Marcelle Efird

December 27, 1923 – November 20, 2014

On Thursday November 20, 2014 Ruby M. Simpson Efird, age 90, went home to be with her heavenly Father while surrounded by her loving family at the Jessie Helms Nursing Center. Mrs. Efird is survived by her son, Chris S. Efird and wife Sharon of Raleigh, NC, 4 grandchildren –Robin Helms, Connie Greene, Brian Simpson & Nathan Efird, 8 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Efird was preceded in passing by her son Dannie M. Simpson of Monroe, NC , Infant son Gregory B. Efird, her husband C.C. Efird of Monroe, NC as well as the late James C. Simpson. Ruby was the daughter of Milas Arthur and Flora Alice Medlin and the sister to 8 beloved brothers who have previously passed.

Ruby S. Efird was a Union County native. She attended Unionville School during her childhood while spending the remainder of her life caring for and loving those around her. Mrs. Efird was the foundation of her family. Ruby always remained strong, independent and put her faith and family first. Ruby put no conditions on her love, it was given freely without question. She taught her family to see the good in folks not the bad, share the things you have because others may have less and always love unconditionally. Ruby M. Simpson Efird - Mother, Grandma & Friend we celebrate your home going. She will be missed greatly but we rejoice in the life we had the opportunity to share with her.

Visitation will be at Mill Creek Baptist Church on Sunday November 23, 2014 at 1:00 PM. A Celebration Service will immediately follow at 2:00 PM at the church. Graveside service will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. Arrangements are being handled by McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe.
