Born April 14, 1925 in Union County, North Carolina, Ruby graduated from Prospect High School in 1943 and had been a long standing member of Lee Park Baptist Church since 1956. She was a seamstress for a local textile company for over 30 years and also worked as a crossing guard for East Elementary School for several years. She had many enjoyments in her life including crochet, flower gardening, and serving at her church.
Ruby is predeceased by her daughter, Sandra K. Lockamy; son, Floyd Lockamy; 8 brothers, Sam, Bill, Monroe, James, Woodrow, Joe, Harold, and Nivan; and 5 sisters, Effie Harrell, Verla Merritt, Dolly Richardson, Fan Lou Howard, and Doris Helms. She is survived by her sons, Lonnie M. Lockamy, Jr., and H. Thomas Lockamy; grandchildren, Bobby Lockamy, Katie Lockamy, Josh Lockamy, Jill White, Christy Duncan, and Angela Hall; and great-grandchildren, Grayden White, Finley White, Olivia Lockamy, Samantha Lockamy, Caroline Woellmer, Alex Lockamy, Maranda Moore, Marissa Cook, Cooper Hall, and Hudson Hall.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023 at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, located at 204 South Main Street, Monroe, North Carolina, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service to celebrate her life will then be held at 11:00 am in the McEwen Colonial Chapel with committal following immediately after at Lakeland Memorial Park.
