Ruddy Weber Sammons

Born in Tabor City, SC, Rudy was a dedicated and hardworking woman who worked for the Department of the Navy as a Civil Servant for over 30 years. Throughout her distinguished career, she rose to the position of Housing Manager, earning numerous awards and accolades, including multiple Meritorious Civilian Service Awards. Rudy’s work took her to a variety of military installations, including Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base in Jacksonville, NC; three tours at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Naval Submarine Base, Kingsbay, GA; Charleston Naval Weapons Station; Naval Air Facility Adak, AK; Naval Air Station Pensacola; and Naval Air Station Key West, FL.

Rudy’s personality was defined by strength, loyalty, and a sharp intellect. She had a relentless work ethic and was always bustling around. She took pride in doing things thoroughly, and her meticulous nature made a lasting impact on all who knew her. Rudy was a woman who cared deeply for those she loved, and her compassion, patience, and loyalty were boundless. She was always there for her family and friends, offering support, love, and a listening ear when needed. Family and friends often referred to her as having a “heart of gold.”

Rudy was preceded in death by her father, Rudolph Soles; her mother, Clara Powell Slagle; and her son, Philip Bradford Weber. Rudy is survived by her beloved spouse, Daniel A. Sammons, Jr; her children, Sheila Dawn Weber Rumble and Eric Jason Weber; her stepsons, Daniel A. Sammons III and Eric J. Sammons; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Randy Soles and Ronnie Soles.

Rudy will be remembered for her unwavering dedication, strength, and deep love for her family and friends. She will be deeply mourned and forever missed by those who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, located at 204 South Main Street, Monroe, North Carolina.
