Mrs. Ruth H. Starnes, 86, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Novant Health Care in Matthews. Mrs. Starnes was born April 27, 1928 in Chesterfield County S.C., daughter of the late Luke and Bessie Sherrin Horne; she was also preceded in death by a son: Larry Thomas Starnes. Visitation will be Saturday, January 24, 2015 from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Starnes will begin at 2:00 P.M. in the McEwen Colonial Chapel, with Reverend Danny Myers and Reverend Kenneth Crump officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Survivors include her husband: Thomas Richard Starnes Jr. of the home, two daughters: Brenda S. Daniels (Tom) of Monroe, Kathie Crump (Kenneth) of Waxhaw, one son: Michael E. Starnes (Valerie) of Stallings, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two sisters: Carolyn Wright (Bobby) Monroe, Linda Simpson (Joe) of Midland N.C.
