Sadie C. Headrick

Born October 16, 1938, Sadie was a lifelong resident of Union County, residing in Monroe, North Carolina. She worked as a seamstress at several textile manufacturing companies and also worked a few years as an associate at local department stores. When retiring from that, she began to companion sit for several elderly members of the community. She loved life and had many enjoyments including square dancing, going on church trips, and traveling to the mountains, especially Cades Cove. She especially enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially with her grandchildren whom she adored so much. Sadie had a very giving and compassionate heart and was always willing to help others.

Along with her parents, Hubert and Loma Chaney, Sadie is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Carroll Headrick; son, Allen Headrick; brothers, Bill Chaney and Raymond Chaney; and sister-in-law, Peggy Chaney. She is survived by her son, Ricky Headrick (Wanda); sister, Martha Helms (Bruce); brother, Gary Chaney (Jane); 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, located at 204 South Main Street, Monroe, North Carolina. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held following the visitation at 2:00 pm in the McEwen Colonial chapel with committal immediately following the service at Lakeland Memorial Park.
