

A graveside service will be held Friday, September 25, 2020 at 11:00am at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC.
Born February 16, 1925 to Daniel Hill Kell and Grace McGinn, she was raised on a farm outside of Pineville, NC in the Providence Community. As a young woman during World War II, she worked for Merrita Bakery, Belk's Department Store, and Ivy's Department Store. In 1950, she married Milas Leander Conder of Matthews, NC. She then became a partner in Milas' grocery business in Matthews. After helping Milas successfully grow the grocery store, "Matthews Food Mart", she opened her own business. "Sara's Stationary and Gifts", in 1979 on the location of the old Matthews Drug Store in downtown Matthews.
She retired from business in 1995.
She and Milas loved traveling and took many trips before she became widowed on September 20, 1983. She was a part of Matthews business community for 40 years. When once asked about the Women's Liberation Movement, she said "I can do anything in business that a man can do. I just think that women should be paid equally for the same job."
She was preceded in death by husband Milas Conder and sister Mary Susan Kell. Survivors are son, Bill Conder (Libby); two grandchildren, Mary Grace Conder and Sarah Conder; sister, Betty Lineberry; nephews, Duke Lineberry (Jenny) and Daniel Lineberry (Toni); niece, Susan Price (WA). A strong lady of Scott-Irish stock, she will be greatly missed.
