

He was born on January 2, 1982.
Chris was a devoted father whose greatest joy was spending time with his children. Known for his ever-present smile and warm spirit, he brought light and laughter to everyone around him. He had a passion for life’s simple pleasures-whether on the golf course, playing basketball with his kids, casting a line while fishing, or enjoying the outdoors through hunting. A loyal fan of the Carolina Tarheels and the Dallas Cowboys, Chris never missed a chance to cheer on his teams. His love for coffee was well known among friends and family.
Chris’s legacy is one of love, resilience, and joy. He will be remembered for his unwavering positivity, his sense of humor, dedication to family, and the countless memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his beloved children, Garrett Sims, Isabella Sims, and Madalyn Sims; his mother, Barbara Hilton, and stepfather, Richard Hilton; his brother, John Sims, Jr. (Ashley Sims); his sister, Tina Lugo (Robert Lugo); his stepbrothers, Jason Hilton and Timothy Hilton (Anna Hilton); and half-sister, Brittani Plyer. Chris was predeceased by his father, John Michael Sims, Sr. His family and friends will forever cherish his memory and the joy he brought into their lives.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, located at 204 South Main Street, Monroe, North Carolina. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held following the visitation at 1:15 pm in the McEwen Colonial Chapel. Burial will follow immediately after the service at Forest Lawn East Cemetery, located at 3700 Forest Lawn Drive, Matthews, North Carolina.
