

Susan Amnee Wright, age 60, currently residing in Weddington North Carolina, joined the angels in heaven on Feb. 10th, 2025. Susan was born on September 9th, 1964. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth Wright, dedicated mother to Lauren Swiger and Leah Kane, playful grandmother to Molly Swiger and youngest daughter to MaryAnn Winter Long.
Susan was born in Statesville, North Carolina and raised in a home built and designed by her late father Lonnie Long.
Susan was a peaceful light in all the lives who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on earth was marked by kindness, compassion, and unwavering faithfulness in God. We ask that you remember Susan for the way she lived her life, and the profound impact her life had on others.
Susan is survived by her loving mother, MaryAnn Winter Long; her siblings, Lonnie, Sharron, Mark, Terri, and Larry. She is also loved by her nieces and nephews, Jacob, Jordan, Chase, Sarah, Meredith, Branden, Lisa, and Nico.
Susan is the bright and shining light to the Wright family; her loving husband of 37 years, Kenny Wright; her two daughters who love her unconditionally, Lauren and Leah. Susan is also GiGi (grandmother) to her granddaughter Molly who adored playing with GiGi after school.
Susan was a graduate of the class of 1986 at Western Carolina, where she was a member of Phi Mu and met her husband, Kenny. They married on September 19th 1987. Throughout their beautiful marriage, Ken and Susan relocated to the Matthews area where they joined Matthews United Methodist Church. At the church, Susan participated in Stephen Ministries, Bible study groups, and led Sunday School classes. In the late 80’s Susan worked at First Union where she held her series licensure. When Susan’s daughters began their college careers, she obtained her Real Estate license and was a wonderful realtor throughout the greater Charlotte area.
Outside of Susan’s work and volunteering, she was a fantastic tennis player. She was a member of Weddington Swim and Racquet Club where she participated in different tennis leagues and built a wonderful circle of friends.
Susan also opened her home for over a decade to lead a women’s Bible Study. Throughout this time, she made lifelong friends and went through many different studies including the story of Ruth and a walk through the New Testament.
A Celebration of Life Service for Susan Wright will be held on Saturday, February 22nd, 2025 at 11:00 am at Matthews United Methodist Church- MUMC, located at 801 S Trade St, Matthews, NC 28105.
In lieu of flowers, we request that you donate under Susan’s name to Cavalier Rescue Trust at https://www.cavalierrescuetrust.org/donate/ where she supported and adopted their cavalier Libby, or to Matthews United Methodist Church https://matthewsumc.org/ where her daughters were baptized and confirmed.
