Born August 25, 1932, in Carlyle, Illinois, Ginny filled nearly a century with laughter, love, and a spirit that touched everyone she met.
In her early years, Ginny nurtured her love of books as a librarian at Wake Forest Library, later sharing her warmth and charm with countless people during her years in sales at Haverty’s Furniture. But titles and jobs never defined her — it was the way she made people feel that left the deepest impression.
Ginny’s life was decorated with angels — both the ones in her collection and the angelic kindness she radiated herself. She was a woman of curiosity and adventure, never turning down an opportunity to explore. Her travels to the Holy Land remained a cherished memory, one she spoke of with reverence and joy. She had a sweet tooth for tiramisu, rum cake, and especially chocolate — indulgences that reflected her philosophy of savoring life’s pleasures.
She also once modeled, carrying herself with elegance, but her true beauty was found in her open heart. Ginny truly “never met a stranger” — everyone she encountered was met with warmth, a smile, and often a new friendship.
Ginny leaves behind her beloved children — Nanette Marie Davis, William Kenney Davis (Kim), Hiley Robert Davis, and Jefferson Zachary Davis (Maria); her grandchildren — Sarah Davis Creech (Ben), Jacob Hiley Davis, Hiley Maria Davis, Chloe Ray Davis, and Skyler Nanette Davis; her brother — Robert Dalhaus (Carol); and nieces and nephews — Butch, Kelly, and Dena. Her family will carry her stories, her laughter, and her love forward into the generations to come.
A celebration of Ginny’s remarkable life will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at 2:00 pm at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe located at 204 South Main Street, Monroe, North Carolina.
