Wendell Cromwell Stegall of Monroe, North Carolina passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, August 28, 2026. He was 96 years old. Wendell graduated from Unionville High School in 1948. He was a faithful, compassionate, and wise person who served the Lord faithfully at Ebenezer Baptist Church as well as the Union Baptist Association. Wendell also served in the United States Marine Corp. He enjoyed doing mechanic work, helping people in need, and taking care of his loving wife for 75 years.
Wendell is survived by his wife, Vivian Ruth Orr Stegall and sons Duane (Susie) Stegall of Jefferson, SC, and Dennis (Robin) Stegall of Polkton, NC. His grandchildren are Ryan (Meagan) Stegall, Lucas (Katelyn) Stegall, Lydia Stegall, Kristin (David) Kingen, and Zach (Ciara) Jordan. His great grandchildren are Emma, Elliott, Easton, Emmett, Merritt, David, and Delilah.
Wendell was preceded in death by his dad, Joel E. Stegall, Sr.; mom, Wilma L. Stegall; and his brother, Joel E. Stegall, Jr.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, September 3, 2026 between 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall at Ebenezer Baptist Church, funeral service will immediately follow in the sanctuary. Wendell will be laid to rest at Lakeland Memorial Park, 1901 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112, immediately following funeral service.
