William Fanander Rushing
April 19, 1926 – May 7, 2018
William Fanander Rushing, 92, of Monroe, died peacefully on May 7, 2018. He was a plumber with Gaye Plumbing then ran his own business, Rushing Plumbing, for many years. William was an avid fisherman and was an original founder of Lakeview Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Vance and Gertrude Rushing; brother Raeford Rushing; sister Mary Lee Medlin. He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Lucille Rushing, daughter Carolyn (Ed) McKnight of Fairfax VA; and son Ronnie Rushing of Monroe NC. Four grandchildren, Heather (George) Stiles, Shawn (Kelly) McKnight, Shannon Rushing and Brandon Rushing; four great-grandchildren, Alex and Chris Stiles, Colin and Caroline Rushing. Brothers J Hue (Beverly) Rushing, Norman (Sarah) Rushing, Larry (Carolyn) Rushing, and sister-in-law, Mildred Rushing, plus numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation was held Thursday evening, May 10 at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Celebration of Life service will be Friday, May 11 at Lakeview Baptist Church at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Lakeview Baptist Church, 4602 Concord Hwy, Monroe NC 28110.
