Mr. Starnes was born September 21, 1946 in Union County, N.C., a son of Mrs. Eula Mae Knight Starnes and the late Mr. Ezell Joyner Starnes.
Mr. Starnes was well known as having been an employee of and having retired from the Union County Public School System, Bus Garage, as a bus mechanic.
Survivors include his wife: Mrs. Linda “Kay” Moser Starnes of the home, his Mother: Mrs. Eula Mae K. Starnes of Waxhaw, (one) Son: Mr. Clarence “Michael” Starnes and wife Tasha of Waxhaw, (one) Daughter: Mrs. Krystal S. Sims and husband Nicholas of Monroe, (one) Grandson: Colton Sims of Monroe, (three) Brothers: Mr. Furman Starnes and wife Jean of Waxhaw, Mr. E.J. Starnes and wife Debbie of Rock Hill, South Carolina and Mr. Harvey Starnes of Waxhaw, (one) Sister: Mrs. Bessie S. Benson and husband Doug of Waxhaw, and also a very “Special” nephew and niece: Mr. Shawn Sather and wife Michelle of El Paso, Texas and Ms. Heather Sather of Blacksburg, South Carolina.
The family will receive friends and relatives for visitation tonight, (Wednesday, March 19, 2014) from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at McEwen Funeral Home in Monroe.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. William “Bill” Starnes will be held on (Thursday afternoon, March 20, 2014) at 2:00 P.M. in the Mount Calvary Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Craven Chavis and the Rev. Danny Johnson, with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park.
