Anne Chambless Hawkes, 57, of Montgomery, transitioned to Glory on March 18, 2021. She was born September 30, 1963. There will be a funeral service for Anne on Thursday, March 25, 2021, at 12:00 Noon, at Christchurch, 8800 Vaughn Road, in Montgomery, Alabama.

Anne is survived by her husband, Todd Hunter Hawkes; two children, Graham (Sara Cobb) Neeley of Montgomery, and Mary Ellen Neeley of Montgomery; one godson (nephew), Hunter Gabriel Hill of Montgomery; one sister Mimi (Dan) Birrenkott of Virginia; one brother Brian Chambless of Georgia; seven nieces Andrea Mitchell, Caitlin Birrenkott, Molly Birrenkott, Alison Birrenkott, Kelley Wallace, Michelle Smith, and Tiffani O’Banion; and multiple great nieces and nephews. Anne had a huge personality, always laughing and bringing joy to others. She was gentle and had a pure heart. She loved chocolate, animals, yard work and the beach. She loved to watch birds and squirrels play in the back yard, one in particular that she watched as part of her morning routine every day! More than anything, Anne loved her family.

Anne graduated from Auburn University of Montgomery with a Bachelor of Science degree and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She and Todd were devoted members of Christchurch. She was a long-time employee of ALFA Insurance as a life insurance underwriter where she made many life-long friends who will miss her greatly.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Montgomery Humane Shelter and Allsaints Primary School, Uganda, sponsored by Christchurch in Montgomery.

Anne was a longtime coworker at Alfa, but much more than a coworker, also a friend. I loved her dearly and she will always hold a special place in my heart. I am so thankful to have known her and especially grateful for the many talks we had. Her smile and laugh were always a bright spot in the Alfa Life Department and wherever she was. So many early mornings seeing Anne in the cafeteria (as she got her daily biscuit), she always started my day with her beautiful smile! I look forward to seeing her smile again.
We loved Anne and she always let us know her care for us.
We love and miss her ~

Ms. Anne was one of the kindest and sweetest women I had the pleasure of calling family. She accepted my daughter and myself as family. I always enjoyed seeing her interact with my daughter. Make-up and hair dates were their favorite. She always made sure I was good and had whatever I needed. I appreciate that God allowed us into each other lives. Today many people will say their goodbyes. Ms. Anne will be truly missed. Rest well Ms. ANNE. LOVE YOU!

Many tears are yet to be shed over losing the dearest of friends. But with each tear shed it will be hard not to smile at the memory of Anne. She was truest example of a friend and I am blessed to have had her in my life. I only hope that I can bring as much joy and happiness to another as she brought me. Anne always has, and always will, hold a special place in my heart...I miss her beyond belief.

I met Anne many years ago at Alfa. She was a blessing to all who had the pleasure of knowing her at some stage in their life. Through out the years we kept in touch and ran into one another at times. She was so much joy! Even after all the time that passed in seeing her I can still hear her laugh very vividly. Rest In Peace sweet friend.

It has been truly a gift from God to have the pleasure of knowing Anne. When my son,Eric married Whitney, our family has been abundantly blessed by extending our family with so many loving and precious people. Especially
Anne. She always had a way of making you feel welcomed and loved. I know her laughter and beautiful smile are now lluminating heaven. I am sure she is dancing with the angels and is at peace. My life has been so blessed to have known this very special lady.

Sweet Anne...you will be missed more than you’ll ever know. You were SO loved by so many! You will be forever cherished by Todd and the entire Teel family! Your smile and laughter were infectious. You were one of the sweetest easiest people to talk to! Give our sweet Poppa a hug for us! Until we meet again!

I worked with Anne many years in the Life Department. Anne was always smiling, kind and loved to talk about her family. Even after I left the department, if I saw her in the hallway she would give me a big shout out, "Hey Teresa, How are you doing"! Her smile was infectious. I am grateful to have known you. Prayers for your family and friends.

Only knew of Anne through the Alfa family. One of the best and nicest people I have met. Taken too early but the lord has gained a fabulous angle. My heart goes out to the family during this difficult time.
