Barbara amd family--Marty and I will have you in our thoughts and prayers during this tough time following Bernie's death. As you know we were in touch quite a bit these past few months and were always hopeful that a cure could be found to guide Bernie back to a real life--sadly that did not occur. I also wanted you to know that Bernie was the "Best Commander" that I ever had as I progressed through my Army Aviation career. We put in many, many hard days and hours during our days in the 11th Air Assault Division at Fort Benning, Georgia in 1964-1965 and during our tour of duty to the Dominican Republic in the Spring/Summer of 1965. It was my pleasure to have served with him and for him--"He was a Good Man."
