
Mrs. Ford was born September 10, 1931, in Montgomery, Alabama to Jason Luna Raines and Laura Virginia Gibbons Raines. Mrs. Ford graduated from Sidney Lanier High School, Montgomery, Alabama and worked briefly as a Telephone Operator for Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company.
In October 1952 she married Alvin Charles Ford, a native of Mobile, Alabama, and through the United States Army, lived in England, Guam, Japan, Belgium, California and Virginia, before settling in Montgomery, Alabama.
She was a member of Highland Avenue Baptist Church, Montgomery and subsequently Willowbrook Baptist Church, in Huntsville. Her interests included time with her family, teaching Children’s Sunday School, collecting antiques, sewing, reading, traveling, working crossword puzzles, and restoring old dolls.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, who passed away on April 19, 2000. She is survived by two Sons, Charles Mitchell Ford of Huntsville, Alabama, and John Ford of Chattanooga, Tennessee; a Brother and his Wife, Jason Delano Raines and Carol Stemples Raines of Lenore, North Carolina, and Sister, Virginia Peak, of Montgomery, Alabama; a Sister in Law, Martha Ann Witt of West Palm Beach, Florida; Daughter in law, Rhonda Gaskin Ford; three Grandchildren, Courtney Ford Coolidge, Hilary Ford Russell, and Charles Daniel Ford; and four Great Grandchildren, Cam Alvin Russell, Simon Fennel Russell, Anne-Marie Corinne Coolidge, and Cody Charles Coolidge.
A graveside service will be held Friday, April 24, at Alabama Heritage Cemetery, 10505 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, Alabama, 36117. Visitation is from 1 PM to 2 PM, with graveside service beginning at 2 PM, with Pastor Doug Merchant of Huntsville officiating.
