Betty Grace Pouncey Jackson, 91, a longtime resident of Montgomery, AL passed away on April 11, 2023. She is pre-deceased by her parents Claude and Odessa Pouncey, brother Clarence Pouncey (Sarah) and Sister Sue Franklin (Ben). She is survived by her husband, Theodore Jackson, daughters Karen O’Neal (Joe) and Lisa Garrett (Steve), grandchildren Kelley O’Neal Heck (Will), Jordan Garrett Gibbs (John), Alex O’Neal, Jackson Garrett and Mary Grace Garrett Dennis (Morgan), and six great grandchildren.
She was born January 20, 1932, in Highland Home, AL. She met and married Ted in 1950. They have enjoyed 72 years of marriage. She supported Ted as a phone operator as he attended college. During those years they learned to play bridge. Betty played bridge until now and cherished the friends and memories she made as part of many bridge clubs over the years. She would encourage everyone she saw to learn to play.
As they started their family, she discovered real estate and started purchasing rental houses. Over the years she helped manage the properties and as the girls grew up, she became a real estate agent.
She had a gift for making others feel comfortable and would have them laughing within a few minutes. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren along with many close friends, niece, and nephews. We will all miss her beautiful smile, laughter, hugs, and love.
She was a long-time member of Vaughn Park Church of Christ and even when they couldn’t attend would look forward to watching services.
A Visitation will be held Saturday April 15, 2023, from 2:00 – 3:00 PM with a service immediately following at 3:00 PM at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home, Montgomery with Rev. Neal Neuenschwander officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to AGAPE of Central Alabama at Vaughn Park Church of Christ, Montgomery.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.AlabamaHeritageFH.com for the Jackson family.
