GULSBY, Charles William (“Buddy”) went home to be with the Lord, at the age 87, on September 4, 2013. A resident of Montgomery for 55 years, Charles was born April 8, 1926 and raised in Monroe County, AL. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater. Upon returning home, he completed high school and graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) in December 1950. He married the love of his life Maggie Dunn in 1947 and together they were true partners in both family and business. Charles worked for Gainesville Milling Company, GoldKist Farms, and Dorminey and Sons Farms prior to founding CMB Foods, Inc., with his wife and sons. His greatest joy in life was his children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, his mother and father, Rosa Andrews and William Allen Gulsby and his brothers, Gaither A. Gulsby and John L. Gulsby. Survivors include his daughter, Faye Wilson (Glenn), Montgomery; sons, Bill Gulsby (Victoria), Auburn; Bob Gulsby (Terri), Cecil; and Brian Gulsby (Cindy), Montgomery; ten grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday September 8, 2013, at 3:00 pm, at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Jay Wolf officiating. Pall bearers will be Edly Dunn, Wilson Frye, Tommy Hicks, Jeremy Ingle, Rick Mann, and Christopher Wilson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please send a memorial donation to the Disabled American Veterans, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or a charity of your choice.
