Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home. A celebration of Dawson’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 30, 2013 at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, with Brother Rick Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at Alabama Heritage Cemetery.
Dawson was born in Montgomery, Alabama on October 29, 1993. He grew up in the loving community of Eastern Hills Baptist Church and Trinity Presbyterian School, from which he graduated in 2012 after being named an AP Scholar, National Merit Commended Student, and member of the All-Metro basketball team. From Trinity he continued on to Auburn University with a Presidential Scholarship, majoring in Chemical Engineering and actively participating in intramural sports.
Dawson’s smile brought joy to all those blessed to know him. He enjoyed playing basketball, football, and ping-pong; spending time with friends and family; and water-skiing and wakeboarding at the lake.
Dawson is preceded in death by his grandfather, Dr. Hoyt Lumpkin and aunt, Linda Morris.
Dawson is survived by his parents, James “Jack” Morris and Dr. Lisa Lumpkin Morris; sister, Jacqueline Morris; and brother, James “Jay” (Linnea) Morris. Dawson is further survived by his paternal grandparents, Roy and Beverly Morris; uncles, Shepherd (Marguerite) Morris, William Morris, and Robert (Angela) Morris; and cousins, Shep (Jamie), Beverly (Curtis), J.W., Katherine, Haley, Fuller, Jed, and Zeph. In addition, Dawson is survived by his maternal grandmother, Jacqueline Lumpkin; uncle, Gregory Lumpkin; and aunt, Laura Lumpkin; and numerous other relatives and friends.
