She was born November 6, 1922, to William Spencer and Cebelle Gardner Pollard in Butler County, AL. She is preceded in death by two brothers, James Thery and William Kendrick Pollard, and one sister, Tula Elizabeth Walters (Conrad Rudolph, MD), one grandson, Lance Wesley Coker, and one great grandson, Benjamin Wesley Patton.
She is survived by her son, Harry Lee Coker (Gail) of Tallassee, AL and daughter, Susie Lightfoot (John, DMD) of Dadeville, AL, two granddaughters, Courtney Coker Eidson (Greg) of Sharpsburg, GA, and Micah Lightfoot Jiles (Zach) of Columbus, GA, five great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Doris was a long-time member of Frazer United Methodist Church in Montgomery, AL, where she especially loved the music and outings with her Sunday School class. During World War II, she lived in Alexandria, VA and worked in a torpedo factory inspecting gyroscopes for the war effort. When she retired after over 25 years as a medical assistant, she was a frequent volunteer at Baptist Hospital. She loved sewing and embroidery and daily walks around the neighborhood. Her lively spirit will be missed by all.
A private interment will take place at the family cemetery in Tallassee, AL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Frazer United Methodist Church or desired charity.
