

BLAKE, Dorothy Louise Smith, 77, of Montgomery, AL, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016. She was a member of First Baptist Church and taught at St. Margaret’s School of Nursing, Director of Nursing at Jackson Hospital and then became the Assistant Administrator at Jackson Hospital until her retirement. She then served as a consultant with the State Board of Nursing. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ann Rutherford. She is survived by her husband, James Blake; five children, Donna Brooks-Hottel (Carl), Alison Heflin (Steve), Deborah Iskandar (Daniel), Angie Vajdak (Allen), Dana English (Eddie); two brothers, Jimmy Smith (Linda), Buddy Smith (Lyda); 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Kyle Mace, Keoka Iskandar, Keola Iskandar, Zachary Buch, Nicholas English, Austin Vajdak; honorary pallbearers will be Cody Brooks, Conley Brooks, Caleb English, Crystian English. Visitation will be held at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life Service with Ken Miller and Jay Wolf officiating. Interment will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the M.D. Anderson Children’s Cancer Fund.
