

Dorothy (Dottie) Samuels, 87, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011. A memorial service will be held Monday, June 6, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Christ Community Church, Ryan Rd., with Pastor Keith Waldrop officiating. Mrs. Samuels was preceded in death by her father, Judge Milton Scott Biddle; her mother, Hazel Fouts Biddle; her husband, James A. Samuels; three sisters, Louise Appling, Betty Robinson and Polly Necessary. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Samuels, Montgomery, Al; son, Scott (Natalie) Samuels, Atlanta, GA; three granddaughters, Betsy (Byron) Manley, Maggie Samuels and Jamie Samuels; one great granddaughter, Harper Manley; and one great grandson, Cole Manley; a dear friend, Jan Aaron. In her younger years, Dottie lived in Hollywood, where she worked for L.B. Mayer as his personal assistant and as an understudy for Judy Garland. Later, when she moved to Lynchburg VA, she did extensive work with the Lynchburg Little Theatre. Always an avid tennis player, Dottie also coordinated tennis tournaments for the youth while living in Lynchburg. Dottie loved music, dancing, sports, and people. She loved and was loved by many, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
