

She was born November 11, 1943, in Hong Kong, China. She earned her bachelor’s degree in China met Richard in 1965 when both of them were working for C.A.R.E., Cooperating Americans for Relief Everywhere. Richard a Team Leader and Edith was a translator. Richard and Edith married in 1967 and moved to Bangladesh to continue their work with C.A.R.E., soon after the birth of their only child they quickly moved to Washington D.C. and Pittsburgh, PA. In Pennsylvania, Edith worked as a Nursing Home Administrator until they moved back to Washington D.C. for a time. She loved to go out and about and hunt for great deals while shopping. She traveled a lot with her family, spending lots of time with them. She loved to love her grandchildren, shopping with them and spending time with them. She lived in Atlanta, GA and moved to Montgomery, AL in 2009 to be closer to her daughter upon the passing of her husband.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Madison, sisters, “Kitty” Pak and Gertrude Chan.
Mrs. Madison is survived by her daughter, Afshan McDonald (Marlo), her grandchildren, Marlo McDonald, Jr., Mariel McDonald, her sister, Grace Wong and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home, 10505 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, AL 36117, US, on June 13, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
