Emma Jean Means was born in Ramer, Alabama on October 8, 1941. She is the daughter of Lillie Taylor Patterson and Herbert Benjamin Patterson. She was baptized at Gillard Baptist Church in Ramer, AL at an early age. She graduated from Dunbar High School, received a Bachelor of Science degree from Tuskegee University and Masters of Arts degree from Southern University. She was married to Dr. Curtis Means until he passed away in 2019. Two children were born from this union; Felice and Candace. She is thankful to God for the caring parents, the community of family and friends and all of the years that she had to spend with them. She is survived by two daughters, one sister Doris Patterson, one brother Will Patterson and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home 10505 Atlanta Highway Montgomery, AL. Interment will immediately follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery.
