FLYNN, Erich Johnson, Sr., "Papa," passed away at his home on November 1, 2023, at the age of 67, surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Miami, Florida, on May 20, 1956, to Bernard and Alice Flynn, Erich was the youngest of three.
A lifelong sports fan and avid golfer, Erich was a natural coach, teaching and encouraging many young people over the years. He never knew a stranger and had a gift for conversation that facilitated his long career in sales. When they moved to Alabama in 1997, Erich and Gloria cultivated a new life in the Redland community of Wetumpka.
He was a man with a big heart, who showed grace and hospitality to everyone. Erich took pride in helping others, making a huge impact on those who were fortunate enough to know and love him. His greatest passion was taking care of and making memories with his family, which is also his lasting legacy. As our patriarch, he taught each of us that, above all, love is our greatest gift.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Gloria; his son Erich Johnson Flynn, Jr. (Brandi); his daughter Jennifer Nieves (Wilson); his grandchildren Michael Flynn (Ashlee); Erich Johnson Flynn, III (Madison); Daniel Flynn; Wilson Nieves, III; and Kayla Nieves; his sister, Cheryl Ball (Bill); several nieces and nephews, and many special friends who over the years have become family.
The family will receive visitors at 1:00pm on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Redland Hills Church, 3105 Rifle Range Road, Wetumpka, AL 36093 with a funeral service to follow at 2:00pm. There will be a graveside service held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn South,11655 SW 117th Ave, Miami, FL 33186.
