Gary W. Seals, a faithful follower of Christ, passed away on Friday, April 3rd, 2026 at the age of 78 in his home in Montgomery, Alabama. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was generous, easygoing, loved the Lord and his family and friends.
Gary was born on July 26th, 1947 in Harlan County, Kentucky, and raised in East Tennessee. He was a morning person, whistling while getting ready for the day and leaving the house with a fork in his shirt pocket--because “you never know when you’ll come across a meal.”
He served his country honorably in the Air Force from 1966 to 1970 and went on to work at Bellsouth for 39 years, during which he also coached a Little League baseball team and had several of his photos published with the Montgomery Zoo, Easter Seals calendar, and National Geographic online.
Gary was not only steadfast in his faith, but a role model for others. He was an active member of his church where he served on Sunday mornings, led the Adult Sunday School, worked with Lads to Leaders, managed the Bible mail-in courses and played on the church softball team.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jessie C. Seals, mother, Frances M. Seals, and siblings, Lenis F. Seals and Allen L. Seals. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Linda S. Seals; his children, Pamela S. Seals, Westley J. Seals (Rebecca A. Seals); his grandchildren, Brandi Caughorn and Mason and Chase Seals; and his great-grandchildren, Isabella and Lincoln Seals, Rosalie Seals, and Ayanah, Amayah, and Aleyah Berry.
Gary’s life was a testament to the power of faith in the Lord and in his fellow man.
May he rest in everlasting peace.
“Our life is like a ribbon,
All shiny and new
Ready to wrap around boxes of treasure.
As time goes by it becomes worn and tattered,
Finally being placed into the box of treasures
For a lifetime memory.”
