He was a member of the Montgomery Country Club, The Red Elephant Club, Tide Pride and TarValon.net (Gaidin of Val ‘Cueran). The son of the late Judge George “Stoney” Martele Akers, II and Mary Cowles Akers, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sylvia “Sam” Akers. He is survived by his wife, Lori Akers; three children, Miranda Worsham, Sean Duncan (Shannon) and Chris Duncan (Erica); six grandchildren, Katelyn, Tyler James (TJ), Kyle, Connor, Chris, Shane and Maddie.
Visitation will be held at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home on Monday, November 16, 2015 from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service in Alabama Heritage Cemetery with Reverend Cherie Meadows.
Pallbearers will be, Randy Candler, Ralph Foster, Jim Ippolito, Mitch Alton, John Walker, Joe Uptain.
Honorary Pall Bearers will be Charles Painter, Tommy Goggins, Rich Prater, Keith Janes, and the VC Brothers from TarValon
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to The Performing Arts Guild of St. James School of Montgomery.
