George M Hutson

Mike was born to George and Florence Hutson on January 2,1940 in Peoria, Illinois. He was the second of eleven children - Six girls (Janet, Joyce, Julie, Joanne, Jill and Jackie) and five boys (Donnie, Scottie, Stevie and Gary). He was the oldest boy.

Mike graduated in May 1958 from Eureka High School in Eureka, Illinois. He lettered in football, track and basketball. He was also a Golden Gloves boxer. He then attended Bradley University. Graduated with an Engineering Degree. Upon graduation he went to work for Kimberly Clark Paper Co. Then he worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company. Eventually he became President of Burford Equipment Company, a Caterpillar dealership in Montgomery, Alabama. He retired in 1987 and worked as a consultant for several area businesses.

He gave his life to Christ because of the influence of Pastor John Ed Mathison and the ministry of Frazer Church in Montgomery. He was a member of Frazer in Montgomery for over 45 years where he served in many leadership and teaching roles. He served on the board of the John Ed Mathison Leadership Ministries, the Alabama Fellowship of Christian Athletes state board and the board of Trinity Presbyterian School.

He was married to his high school sweetheart, Sharon, for 66 years. They were a team in everything they did. Together they enjoyed time spent with family and friends, serving at church and traveling the world. Mike also loved playing golf, watches, and college football.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sharon Hutson; children, Ricki Brown (Larry); Rusty Hutson (Becky); grandchildren, Michael Hutson (Maggie), Ashlyn Brown (Laura), Wesley Hutson (Kennedy), Will Hutson (Scottie), Kaleigh Brown (Steven); great grandchildren, Jones Hutson, Wake Hutson, Susie Hutson and Shep Hutson; siblings, Julie Gallagher (Terry), Steve Hutson (Gail), Joanne Klaus (Bob), Jill Johnson (Danny) and Jackie Polley (Charlie); and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Florence Hutson; siblings, Joyce Cullman, Janet Roou, Donnie Hutson, Scottie Hutson and Gary Hutson.

A visitation and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Cornerstone Church, 2123 Hamilton Road in Auburn, Alabama. The visitation will be at 10:00am and the service will be at 11:00am.
