Gordon Gray Godwin

Gordon Gray Godwin, age 16, one of God’s precious children was called home on Thanksgiving Day, 2013. Formerly a student at Trinity Presbyterian School in Montgomery, Gray was in his first year at Homewood High School as a sophomore. Gray loved his family and friends and they, in turn, had great love for him. Gray’s hope was in Christ alone.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Billy and Jean Matheny and his paternal grandfather, James E. Godwin. He is survived by his parents Beverly Matheny Godwin and George Anthony Godwin; his brother, George Cleveland Godwin; his sister, Anna Sophia Godwin and his paternal grandmother, Ruth Gray Godwin.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Montgomery. Visitation will follow at the church. Burial will be private. Pallbearers will be: Coleman Hufham, Steve Watson, Jeromy Gwin, Kyle Kyser, Jr., Mike Ellis, Robert Hogan, Steve Meany and Randy Ragsdale.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Trinity Presbyterian Church in Montgomery in honor of Gordon Gray Godwin. All monies will be used to assist families with international adoption expenses.
