

Guy Randall Nevins, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and public administrator, passed away Friday, February 11, 2022 at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, Alabama at the age of 72. He was born in Auburn, Alabama; the only child of 1st Lt. Guy Holder Nevins III and Mary Evelyn Neeley, who preceded him in death. He served in the State of Alabama Department of Public Health for over 40 years, during which he pioneered the licensing and certification process for assisted living facilities.
In 1974, he graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology. While working for the State of Alabama, he completed his Masters of Public Administration at Auburn University in Montgomery where he also met his wife of 34 years. In March of 2021, he retired from public service.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, February 18 from 5:00-7:00pm at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home. A celebration of life and burial service will be held the next day, Saturday, February 19, at 10:00am with Fr. Mateusz Rudzik officiating.
He leaves behind his wife, Dr. Leigh Anne Tucker Nevins, and their son Patrick Holder (Kendra) Nevins. His beloved four grandchildren will miss their Pop: Harper, Morgan, Emerson, and Porter. He leaves behind a wealth of extended family and friends who grieve the loss of his wisdom, strength, and love.
Pallbearers will be Ben Nevins, Jim Nevins, Dr. Allen Tucker, Zach Tucker, Allen Williams, and Dr. Bruce Young.
