Jackie H Barber

Jackie Hayes Barber, 76, died in the comfort of her Montgomery home in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 19, 2012 surrounded by loving family members. Mrs. Barber was suffering from ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. When diagnosed, Mrs. Barber, a dedicated member of Taylor Road Baptist Church and mother of two, put her faith and health in the hands of the Lord. Mrs. Barber graduated from Georgia State University with a BBA in Accounting and was an avid gardener. She is survived by James, her husband of 51 years, and sons James, Jr. and Greg Barber of Atlanta; two grandchildren Anna and Caroline of Atlanta; siblings Dot Bass of Tallahassee, Hubert Hayes of Tifton, GA, C.L. Hayes of Dawson, GA, Beverly Hayes of Gainesville, GA, Bill Hayes of Valdosta, GA, Donald Hayes of East Point, GA and Ron Hayes of Ormond Beach, Florida. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Alabama Chapter of the ALS Association or the Taylor Road Baptist Church Building Fund ( visitation will be held at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home on Thursday, August 23, from 11 – 1 p.m. prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alabama Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery.
