

respected philanthropist, peacefully passed away to meet his Savior at his home on June 15, 2024. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ellen Mae Lane. James leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his four children: Jimmy Lane, Steve Lane, Cindy Williams, Cathy Johnson, and their families, including grandchildren Linzy Johnson, Will Lane, Kasey Johnson, Ellen Lane, Jennifer Hendricks, and great-granddaughter Lydia. He also leaves behind stepchildren
David Jones, Barry Jones, Keisha Glasscock, Suzell Josey, Stephanie Truett, and their families.
James is fondly remembered by his siblings, Earl Lane and Linda Sanders.
Mr. Lane was known for his generous spirit and philanthropic endeavors. He was an active supporter of law enforcement and mental health projects, reflecting his commitment to community well-being. His philanthropic efforts included significant contributions such as replacing a stage at Prattville Elementary School, funding the Sheriffs House in Montgomery to
support Police Academy trainees, and financing a Field House for Lowndes County High School football players.
James enjoyed the company of friends, laughter, and great music throughout his life. His optimism and kindness endeared him to all who knew him, contributing to both his personal and
professional success.
A viewing will be held at Frazer Church on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, starting at 1:00 PM,
followed by a service officiated by John Ed Mathison and Chuck Glasscock at 2:00 PM.
Honorary Pallbearers include Johnny Crawford, James Sanders, Cal Franklin, Johnny Sullivan,
Joe Hagler, Perry Hooper Jr., Alva Lambert, and Sheriff Derrick Cunningham.
Pallbearers will be Henry Sanders, Al Lane, Garrett Truett, Darryl Truett, Gabriell Garcia, Will Lane, Dustin Lane, Micah Josey, and Phillip Young.
James Lee Lane will be remembered for his unwavering generosity, warm spirit, and lasting
impact on his community and beyond.
