
James Rushing, “Jim”, Stembridge died on December 3, 2011 at a local hospital. He was born on February 18, 1943 in Memphis, TN and grew up in Birmingham. He lived for many years in Meridian, MS and Perdido Key, FL. He attended Auburn University, University of Southern Mississippi and Meridian Community College and was an avid fan of Auburn football, a voracious reader, especially of history and enjoyed travelling the U. S. with his wife. He served his country in the U. S. Navy. He was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church in Pike Road. Jim is survived by his wife, Linda Stembridge; son, James “Jay” (Jackie) Stembridge, Jr.; daughter, Amanda Dean (Val) Montgomery of Meridian, MS; grandchildren, Megan and Katie Stembridge and Colby and Macy Montgomery; sister, Kay (Al) Webb of Montgomery; nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Herman and Eleanor Stembridge and grandson, James Rushing “Trey” Stembridge, III. A service for family and close friends will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 5, 2011 at Woodland UMC in Pike Road. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Woodland UMC, 4428 Wallahatchie Road, Pike Road, AL 36064.
