Jean Alison Cadwell, of Montgomery, Alabama passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at the age of 97. Jean transitioned peacefully at home while being surrounded by her loved ones.
Jean A. Cadwell lived a wonderful and blessed life. She was born on June 19, 1926, in Boston, Massachusetts, to George and Ruth Ormon. Jean attended nursing school in Boston, where she then became a registered nurse for the Boston Children's Neonatal Unit. Jean also worked in Colorado Springs, CO, for the neonatal unit. After years of focusing on her career, Jean met the love of her life on a girl's trip in Texas. Jean and James then married each other in Boston, MA, on January 13, 1951. Jean then moved to Texas with James.
Jean was a devoted military wife, mother, grandma, and "Cutie Pie" as her great-grandchildren referred to her. Jean's greatest loves in life besides her family included road trips and searching for treasures at garage sales and flea markets. Jean operated many booths at flea markets, one of significance being Eastbrook Flea Market. Jean also loved to gift her treasured items to her family and friends, which in return earned her the nickname, "The Garage Sale Santa." She loved to travel by motorhome and cruising with her friends, (The McUmbers, Housemans, Laymons, and many more.) While stationed in Morocco, Jean and Jim Cadwell learned how to square dance together, which is something they did everywhere they lived, most recently being at the Masda Club in Montgomery, AL.
Jean Alison Cadwell is preceded in death by her parents, George and Ruth Ormon; and her loving husband, James E. Cadwell.
Jean is survived by her children, James E. Cadwell JR., Jane Smith (Albert Baffone), and John Cadwell (Patty); grandchildren, Kent Lucas, Jennifer Cadwell, and Chris Cadwell (Whitney); great-grandchildren, Alex Skifton, Colton J. Cadwell, and Callen J. Cadwell.
