

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeffa Porter (Juanita Buckner) Hill, Jr.; grandparents, Eddie Davis (LaVera Jenkins) Buckner; Margaret Armstrong Hill; and Jeffa Porter (Kathleen) Hill, Sr.; aunts and uncles, Elliott Hampton (Vivian) Leyden; Button Haskin (Virginia) Grigsby; and Patricia Buckner Lawson; parents-in-law, Clifford (Ethel McCrelles) Brown and Olin Loy Glass; brother-in-law, Stanley F. Jones; nephew, S. Keith Jones; and cousins, Mickey (Angela) Grigsby, Kelly Leyden, and Matthew Yother.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carolyn Glass Hill; his son, Jeffa Scott Hill; and his daughter, Kristi LaVera (Brad) Skipper. He was known as “Pots” by his pride and joy, his granddaughter, Melodie Leyden Skipper. He is also survived by his brother, O. Wayne (Beth) Hill; nephew Joshua (Heather) Hill; niece, Emily Hill and her fiancé, Kevin Hanner; cousins, Donald (Alice) Leyden; Virginia Anne (Don) Kyle; Thomas (Suzanne) Leyden; Lynn Lawson; Linda Lawson Reynolds; Ray (Saratha) Grigsby; Mary Leyden (Nicky Ingrisano) and Webb Leyden Ingrisano; Sean (Michelle) Leyden and Jade & Skyler; Angela Kyle (Jeff) Stone and Shea, Kylie and Kenzie; Andrea Kyle and McKala; Kyle Leyden; Andy Lawson; Sara Howard; Lauren Grigsby (Jeff) Weathers and Ryan & Haskin; Dr. Claire Grisgby (Paul) Yother and Michael & Mary Catherine; brothers-in-law, Rev. Jeff was born in Gadsden, Alabama on December 18, 1944. He graduated from Gadsden High School and received a drafting degree from Marsh-Draughon Business College and a bachelor of arts in music from Jacksonville State University. He was a member of Capitol Heights Baptist Church. Jeff was an accomplished musician and a professional accordionist. He was a draftsman and computer operator, served the Lord in several churches as minister of music, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. Jeff was a wonderful, patient husband, father and grandfather. His bright eyes and sweet smile will be missed.
Visitation was held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Alabama Heritage and the funeral was held at Alabama Heritage at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Burial followed in Alabama Heritage cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. J. Warren Culver, Rev. Larry Glass, and Rev. Gary Burton.
Pallbearers were Ray Grigsby, Tom Leyden, Chuck Insinga, David Howard, Billy Royal, Steven Tears, Robert Bryant, Jason Burton and Carroll Wayne Cogburn.
Honorary Pallbearers were the men of Adult 3 Sunday School class; the Capitol Heights Baptist Church Sanctuary Choir; Col.
