John Cliffton Folks Sr.

Reverend John C. Folks entered into enteral rest on Wednesday October 15, 2014. He was born March 8, 1931, to the late Earnest Folks and Annie R Folks, in Bullock County. He was the oldest of 8 children, at an early age confessed Christ and took membership at Bethesda Baptist Church in Pine Level, AL. under the leadership of the late Rev. Z. L. Green. He continues as a member of Bethesda Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. L.D. Days until he was call into full time ministry. He went on to pastor several churches ; Bougahoma Missionary Baptist Church, Hayneville, AL, Canaan Baptist Church, Snowdon, AL, Weeping Willow Baptist church, Pike Rd, AL., Mt Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, Pine Level, AL , Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Fitzpatrick, AL. Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist #2, Banks Al, Holly Spring, Troy, AL., and Center Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, Midway, AL.

Upon Rev. John C. Folks Sr.'s passing, he was a member of the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, Troy, AL. where Rev. Felton Henderson serve as pastor. Over 50+ years of laboring in the gospel, Rev. John C. Folks Sr. severed in many capacities in the Helicon District where now Rev. Raymond Franklin serves as moderator. Upon his death he was holding the position of Region Director- Usher Union.

He is survived by Fourteen Children, Rev. John C. Folks Jr., (Patricia)Montgomery, AL; Johnny Oliver Troy, AL.; Mary Lenoir (Javeris) Fort Lauderdale, FL.; Evangelist Lucy Bonneau (Elder Harold) Minneapolis, MN ; Tommy Oliver (TaKesha)Montgomery, AL, Dr. Debbie Bryant (Bishop Roger) Montgomery, AL.; Jimmy Folks (Renee) Jacksonville, FL; Napoleon Folks Tuscaloosa, AL , Peggy Reynolds (Eddie) Troy, AL, Stella Christian Troy, AL, Essie Meadows Troy, AL, Linda Powell (Willie) Troy, AL, Kimberly Wright Reginald) Troy, AL, and Marvin Pearson (Charlotte) Troy, AL.

Two sisters, Velma Ephraim Maywood, IL and Stella Copeland Jacksonville, FL, One brother; Roosevelt Folks Erie, PA; Two Sister in laws, Brenda Folks Chicago, IL, Ruth Folks Chicago, IL; one aunt, Myrtle Boswell, Montgomery, AL; and abundance of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2014 at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. John C. Folks, Jr. and Rev. Earnest Green officiating. Burial will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening at Alabama Heritage from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
