Johnny Williams was born on June 21, 1940, in Wilmington, North Carolina, to Olis and Mable Williams. In his early years, he made a name for himself as a successful stock car racer, competing alongside some of the most recognized figures in the sport.
As his career evolved, Johnny became the owner of a political grassroots bus company, where he had the opportunity to drive for numerous Presidents, Senators, Congressmen, Governors, and Judges. His dedication and professionalism led him to work for the State of Alabama, where he served as Lead Advance Coordinator for Governor Don Siegelman. In recognition of his commitment and leadership, he was later appointed Director of the Alabama Emergency Management Agency, a position he held until his retirement in 2006.
In retirement, Johnny spent the next twenty years doing what he loved most-traveling across the country. Whether behind the wheel of a truck or a bus, the open road brought him great joy and fulfillment.
Johnny passed away on April 6, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with multiple health issues. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Brenda, along with his 11 children, 23 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
