

Bodiford, Joyce Ann, 76, of Montgomery, died peacefully March 6, 2015. A native of Pleasant Grove, Alabama, Joyce was a 50-year resident of Montgomery. Born May 29, 1938, she was preceded in death by her grandmother Rebecca Stewart; parents, Katie Evelyn Stewart and Judson “Jack” Carpenter; siblings Mildred, Ruby, Dianne, Sonny and Buddy; and husband Tyrone. She is survived by her children Jimmy Wood, Bobby Wood (Janet), Calvin Wood and Sheree Bodiford; grandchildren Jae Wood and Ashley Wood; great-grandchildren Trent Wood and Kayden Wood; siblings David Carpenter, Marty Carpenter, Gary Carpenter, Charlotte Strange, Kenneth Carpenter and Leilas “Lee” Carpenter; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joyce had a lifelong passion for helping the homeless, cooking delicious, scratch-made biscuits and Sunday dinners for her friends and family, and putting a smile on the face of everyone she met. Her sense of humor, quick wit and loving gestures will be greatly missed. She was a longtime fixture at Chris's Famous Hotdogs in Montgomery and previously worked as a house manager of Pinson's Restaurant.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home in Montgomery.
Visitation will take place immediately before, beginning at noon.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to Joyce's favorite local charity, Brantwood Children's Home or contact the family.
