Lazette Taylor, 92, passed away on July 7, 2026, peacefully and surrounded by her children. Born November 13, 1933, she was a cherished and beloved presence in the lives of those who had the privilege to know her, and a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose steady love shaped generations. A resident of Montgomery, Alabama, Lazette will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection.
Lazette’s legacy lives in the faithful ways she cared for her family and the quiet strength with which she met each day. She had a gift for making a home feel steady and welcoming—whether by out-cooking anyone who dared to compete, getting a stain out of any material, or filling pantries with the best canned pickles and fig preserves. She showed up for each one of her loved ones, no matter what, offering the kind of dependable presence that cannot be replaced. Her grandchildren learned from her hands and her heart—how to cook, how to harvest, and how to prepare fresh vegetables—and many will especially miss her peanut candy, made with the same devotion she gave to everything she did.
Her faith was a source of comfort to those around her. When family felt uneasy, Lazette would return to her favorite passage, Psalm 23, reminding them to rest assured that Jesus is with us through it all. In her, many saw a rare harmony of godliness, compassion, integrity, and humor—qualities that strengthened her family and made them better for having been loved by her.
Lazette was also remembered as a stylish, elegant, and beautiful woman with the prettiest eyes and the best summer tan—“not a beauty that faded with the years, but one that deepened, like something the light kept finding.” Her family described her as a steel magnolia—truly one of a kind—and she is already greatly missed. They remain forever grateful for her steadfast love for family and for Christ, and for the love that kept them grounded, no matter where life took them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Nicholas Brackin and Lazette Brackin Williams; brothers, James Brackin and Chester Williams; as well as son in law, Ricky Everitt.
She is survived by her children, Nancy Taylor Everitt, Paula Taylor Culver (Warren), Greg Taylor (Linda) and Cheryl Taylor Britton; siblings, Henry Williams (Elsie), Joe Williams (Linda) and George Williams (Diane); grandchildren, Andrea Everitt Gainey (Johnny), Amanda Culver, Taylor Culver (Britney), Elizabeth Culver Carton (Rob), Juelle Taylor Bryan (Josh), Jackson Britton, Cole Taylor and Anna Britton; and great-grandchildren, Brayden Gainey (Grace), Lane Gainey and George Carton.
Visitation will be held at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home, 10505 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, AL 36117, on July 11, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. A Funeral Service will follow at 10:00 am.

In the words her family shared with tender hope: “We hope there are beaches in heaven and her towel is sand free.”
