Ward, Lewis Y., 76, a resident of Montgomery, AL, passed away on October 18, 2012. He was born in Hartsville, TN, but lived most of his live in Alabama. “Coach” was a beloved teacher in the Montgomery Public School System for over 30 years, most of which were spent at Robert E. Lee High School. He was a member of Dalraida Methodist Church where he enjoyed teaching Sunday School. Lewis loved fishing in Navarre Beach, turkey hunting and golf. Above all, he loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Lou Champion Ward and his father, Reid Harris Ward. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Ann Taylor Ward; a son, Lewis Andrew (Monica) Ward; a daughter, Rebecca Ashley Chancellor; four grandchildren, Julia Anne (Austin) Decker, Rebecca Lee Chancellor, Shelby Ward Chancellor and Caroline Taylor Ward and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. with the Reverend Edward Deabler officiating.
