She leaves behind her four children, Jacquelyn Swain (Mike), Sonya Alison(Charles), Cheryl Kendrick (Eddy) and Jesse Dye Jr (Amy). She was additionally blessed with 12 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Martha was preceded in death by her husband (Murry Dye) and her daughter (Daphne Stewart).
Martha was born August 18,1941 in McEwen Tennessee, the daughter of J. T. and Lillian Triplett. She grew up in Waverly, Tennessee; the stories she had of playing in the creeks throughout her childhood became real life for the family as we grew up with some of the same memories visiting those creeks.
In 1956 Martha met Murry in Memphis at the diner where her sister Jo worked. Martha and Murry married February 3, 1958 (64 years) and spent several years in Memphis before making Montgomery, Alabama their home. She spent the last 58 years in Snowdoun, a community just south of Montgomery.
Martha loved crocheting, sewing, and making home-cooked country meals. She loved spending time with her kids and grandchildren, and loved having conversations about her and Murry’s life-including stories which would have us all rolling with laughter. To remember her is to remember our dad as well, because they were always together.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on July 29, 2026, at Alabama National Cemetery, 45M7+8H, Montevallo, AL 35115, US.
